New Statute Adds Definitions to Contractor Licensing Statute and Require Contractors to Pay Subcontractors within Certain Timelines
SB 290 (2026) was signed into law on March 23, 2026. The new law takes effect July 1, 2026, and adds definitions for subcontractors and suppliers to 489.105, Florida Statutes, and creates 489.1295, Florida Statutes, which deals with nonpayment of subcontractors. Click here to read more.
Proposed House Bill Would Exempt Certain Work Below $7,500.00 and Certain Hurricane Preparedness Work from Permitting Requirements
HB 803 (2026) if signed into law by the Governor, will make changes to a lot of statutes related to building permits and inspections. As part of those changes, the bill makes many amendments to 553.79, Florida Statutes, which governs permits, applications, and inspections. Click here to read more.
Proposed Amended Statute Would Allow Permits to be Issued in 5 Days for Work on Single Family Residences Valued at Less Than $15,000.00
